How Insecurity In Kenya is Partly Linked with Corruption | Waflay Post
The ‘time to run’ has nothing to do with the circumstances behind the
actual action-running, but is has something to do with what we missed
or a failed action, a warning sign
that we ignored before becoming too hard for us to handle, that is when
we have to run; either to save time, or away from danger.
Likewise, we have other issues that haunt our lives because of
failure to take care of them during there initial stage. We all know
that in every action, there is always a reaction part of it, which we
have to deal with before recording a positive progress.

What Is Love?
What Is Love?
Lesson From Love Story
A long time ago, there was a small boy who loved his best friend, a girl from the neighboring homestead.
They were good friends and spent most of their time together…only evening hours separated the two young love birds.
They grew up into maturity, knowing nothing about reality of love
because they were good friends and same goes to love. They ended up
married.
One day an opportunity arose for the man, he got a job in a town… and
this forced them to move in town, away from their rural home.

CJ's Final Word on CORD Petition
Finally, the day is here, just hours before d-day!The greatest ruling in the history of Kenya's presidential election. On Saturday 30th, 2013 the Supreme Court will read the verdict on just concluded presidential petition hearing to determine the way forward for Kenya.
By now, some of the questions lingering in people's minds are: who actually won the March 4th, election? Was the whole exercise free and fair? What will happen just after Chief Justice's final say?
Don't worry, the clock is still ticking towards that hour. Just remember, we did our part, our politicians -leaders- have done their best, and now everything rests within the hand of the six Supreme Court Judges. We have to respect their verdict no matter what!
Life has to continue, we cannot force the impossible to become positive, or a tie in this case.
It is gonna be tough! It's gonna hurt and create life-time memories and agony in many people's heart and mind. Just be ready for anything.
For those who will celebrate the outcome of this petition, do it in respectful manner. Be wise, do not overdo what you can not handle.
Kenya is greater than every Kenyan out there!

Decision March 4th: Choose a Leader not a Politician
Kenya being a country with people from different ethnic
backgrounds, it is easy to identify a national leader from the majority- ethnic
leaders.
![]() |
| By Choosing a Leader, We Free Ourselves From Impunity |
Secondly, ask yourself a simple question, should I consider
myself first or a Kenyan out there who has no opportunity to make change? If
you go by your conscience as a human, a citizen of Kenya, you would make a
wiser decision by choosing the best person who would unify all Kenyans.
Anyway, that was just about preparations.
Now let us focus on aspirants, especially those seeking
presidential post. As you have seen, none of them can admit being a failure
even though they all have been in public offices performing different duties.
We saw them! The first four: one is the Prime minister of Kenya and the other
two are his deputies. Only one person is in another ministry, but in the same
government.
In all eight aspirants, we have those that are fit and those
that we don't know much about. However, for one to be a public national leader,
he/she should have certain qualities that distinguish an individual from the
rest.
We have a Bukusu saying that when translated goes ‘Sweetness
of something is bred from childhood.’ These are clear set of words that draws
us back to the person’s background, his/her duties in office, public relations
and ability to cope with pressure.
A good leader should be able control; his/her close allies,
then the party and lastly the nationwide support. A leader should also teach
his/her followers -by leading as an example- on how to behave against other
competitors. A rowdy crowd of supporters is just a reflection of poor
leadership!
Social media in Kenya is a battle field for political
rivalry. Indirect involvements, intimidation, pointing an accusation fingers on
each other, exchange of bitter words in public are a few things that have hit
political spot-light recently. For
voter, this should be a platform to determine a leader from pretenders.
Ethnic politics has taken centre stage and the critical role
in Kenyan presidential elections. As the country heads for elections in March 4th,
the more we should be vigilant politically about leaders that we want to elect
for the top seat.

Time To Realize Change, The Kenya We Want
Someone said, "You should imagine before taking the first initiative." Imagination is the power to see the virtual picture of something -past, present or future. Sometimes you just don't imagine, your mental picture can represent the real image of your future -another word: foretell.
Another person said, "The past define the future in two colors: dark or bright." In reference to Kenya, the heartbeat of East Africa, we have our political past that changed the face of our great nation. Fresh images of darkness still lingers in our memories whenever we hear the word 'ELECTION'. By now, the key players of Kenya's politics are doing there thing for popularity reasons and power struggle. What about the voters? Are we ready to make change happen in our midst? I hope so!
Great! The past as we know has no effect our our choices, however, we should be very careful not to repeat -crisscross- history. This is why we have been left with only one chance here: "Imagining Kenya in peaceful state after March 4th, and taking this initiative to implement our choice for tomorrow -brighter future." In other words, the first and the second persons' saying should be combined to bring up the true future we need. I believe, we are ready to move from dark age era to bright age period in our land.
By the way, PEACE, LOVE and UNITY are some of things that comes free of charge, however, so delicate to handle.

Ribbon Eel
| Blue Ribbon Eel |
The world has amazing creatures that we barely know of their
existence. We have different of them lying in deep seas, oceans and on land,
amazingly, they are unique and mostly beyond our imagination.
The Ribbon Eel is one of the unique ocean creatures that
have trumpet like nostrils and a lower jaw with three tentacles. Well, this sea
animal has an ability to change sex nature, the male ones regularly become
females. The change of color and adopting a nearly yellow hue apparently helps
them in suiting in their feminine side.

How to Approach Your Goal
Ever had a target in life? Definitely, everyone has had a burning desire to own something or just to acquire a certain item or goods for some reasons. Anyway, that is the best beginning of a long and winding journey before you have whatever that has been your goal.
However, everything does not just come the way you want it to be, you have to give it time, energy and hope that one day, you would manage to have it. If you have such drive, the only thing needed is to have a reminder, something to keep your mind at par with your target. Nevertheless, do not give up!
Having your mind at rest, draw a simple plan. This could give you the pros and cons of how you should approach the target. While, keeping in mind that nothing is simple as it appears, give it an attempt and see if your plan might work.
If things go as planned, modify your arrangements or include other approaches relevant to your goal. Relevance matters a lot as it forms a good foundation that can easily transform into your aspiration. The hard the going, the higher the chances of reaching there!
Sometimes you may not realize how far you have pushed for your destination goal, the greatest advantage of letting the drift take the course of your trial is that it takes control of your mind and draws the target much near.
It is also recommended to keep close to people with the same goal, exchange of ideas and learning from each others mistakes could lead into achieving your primary objective much easier that having to go a long way -trial and error.
For anything to be successful, patience and determination should be the leading aspects. With these two, nothing is impossible! Just let your base be your motivation and keep in mind -hope- that success is just at the corner.

Tana Delta Fresh Attacks Claims Over 30 Lives
| Tana Rive Clashes Photo From Kenya RedCross |
Revenge attacks in Tana Delta has claimed 32 lives as reported by Kenya RedCross: 16 men, 5 females, 8 Children, 9 police,167 houses burnt in fresh attacks on monday Sep, 10 2012. Police and RedCross personnel on ground have also confirmed that there is over 1000 internally displaced families.
Who is proudly Kenyan now? Yah, I guess so. With international and local media reports of terrible happenings -massacre in Tana river delta, this is understandable as to why we are quiet now. I don't wanna think about it, but it is beyond my imagination that we are experiencing this in this time of age- twentieth century. Kenyans, does common sense ring a bell in mind? Why fight when diplomacy can work it out nicely! And over what that can be equivalent to shading human blood. This is so disgusting.
Tribalism? Hell no! This is a minor issue boiling at the epicenter of these clashes, something big is out there waiting to be exposed. Think! Think! Think! We need non partisan leaders, good governance to distribute national resources equally, a national security council that is capable of detecting a brewing hazard before it happens and a unifying leader who feels the hearts of common Kenyans. I hate evil!

New Terror Tactics- Al-Shabaab
When Kenya government launched offensive encounter against
Al-Shabaab in Somalia, the main reason was to flush out a terrorism group
breeding on our neighborhood. Through this, the government had another plan to
stabilize Somalia –a break through to a stable government on the horn of
Africa.
Since the merge between Al-Shabbab and Al-Qaida network, there
has been an influx of foreign fighters joining the terror group. This has also
introduced a new tactic for Al-Shabaab sympathizers in the country; it seems
they have switched from hurling grenades (explosives) in crowded areas to the
use of explosives and gunshots to accomplish their cowardly acts.
What we should learn from recent attacks in Garissa is that,
the terror group is now emerging with a new strategy to create enmity between
Muslims and Christians. In attacking churches, they know such action will anger
Christians and would cause peace instability between the two religions.
This kind of terrorism has been in the rise in Nigeria as
Poko-haram terror group’s main attacking tactic. By now, it seems Al-Shabaab
leaders are highly relying on foreigners to lead the way forward for a weakened
group. This comes after media houses reported of Poko-haram bomb makers making
their way to Somalia to join their fellow terrorists.
With terrorism on the rise in this country- Kenya, even the
Mosques are not safe. We have to remember the motive of this group, they do not
care about anybody as long as one is in Kenya, that becomes a target and their
main goal is to cause maximum damage in this country.
They have already tested how sensitive religion issue is in
Northern Eastern part of Kenya. We never know what they are planning next to
cause total confusion or even clashes –religious war- in the region.
The only thing we know is they have assaulted one side. Weighing
on the outcome, they scored. If my guess is right, they might do the same in a
Mosque for it to be seen as retaliation attack by Christians, this would be a
big blow to fragile peace between the two religions in the region.
It is good that the government has increased security in
most regions in the country. As citizens of this country, we have a duty to
work closely with law enforcement arm of the government for our own good.

Kenya's Politics In Question
Relating past political scenes to our current political
games will lead us to discover some connections, which our politicians are
using to gain fame and power, in so doing, to keep a guardian angel
in their dirty tracks.
If you remember, by the time ODM Kenya was a strong
political party in 2007, Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka started some rankles
within the party. This led to departure of the other members of the
party to rejoin the original ODM party.
Back to the current situation, we find Hon. Musalia Mudavadi very active in the role that Hon. K. Musyoka played in 2007. The difference is he went ahead and formed a political party to run against his former colleague Hon. Raila Odinga.
Back to the current situation, we find Hon. Musalia Mudavadi very active in the role that Hon. K. Musyoka played in 2007. The difference is he went ahead and formed a political party to run against his former colleague Hon. Raila Odinga.
Now that we know, who caused political rankles in ODM-Kenya
in 2007 by using a ‘political project’ –Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka-; it does make us
think our man of the match is once more having a running project. For now, it
is just rumors that Hon. Musalia Mudavadi is the one. This maybe true based on
newly evolved Musalia we used to know.
There are some facts which most of us have seen, although the
main players have denied being ‘political Projects’. This leads us back to Hon.
Kalonzo, and how he denied claims of being a PNU
project!
Nevertheless, everything came to be true when he became the Vice President of
this nation –Kenya in President Kibaki’s administration.
In Kenya, we lack genuine politics. Most people we love and
support may be someone’s political project. We have external forces
that control our politicians, and exchange of money plays a major role in this
country’s politics. This is the reason why it is hard to eradicate
corruption, as its roots feeds in high-ranking public and private offices.
In every electioneering year, Kenya has always had a ‘hotcake’
politician since the beginning of multiparty system. In 2002, the late Hon.
Kijana Wamalwa was a man to tame, then Hon. Kalonzo in 2007, and now we have
Hon. Eugine Wamalwa whom every Presidential aspirant wants to snatch, will he
choose wisely?

The country is now green with hopes of good future harvest, not only in farming but also in restoring our nation-wide peace and stability. Here is a message to all Kenyan citizens at heart.
Through the reshuffle of politics, and keeping the game, as it was yester-years, we are going nowhere. Change in leadership is what brings about real change. Before these, let me highlight a few things that I think most of us have forgotten, but are very important facts in politics in our country -Kenya.

My Body, a Kiln of Fire.
Oh I wish medics could work,
The pain, I can't stand,
It is as if I'm on fire,
The kiln of suffering,
That is how I feel.
So bad, my days are,
Missed a lot to keep fit,
Abandoned what I love,
Still, not spared by the pain.
Do I have to endure more of these,
But till when?
My happiness is gone,
Just agony is what I have now.
Sleeping in pain,
Waking up in pain,
Dry eyes.. loveless and sorrowful,
Waiting for a better day.
My mind cannot think,
I have nothing to write,
Just listening for the pain,
That only me can feel.
I hope for a Better day,
Painless tomorrow!
Where happiness is,
As for now, just pain!
The pain, I can't stand,
It is as if I'm on fire,
The kiln of suffering,
That is how I feel.

Missed a lot to keep fit,
Abandoned what I love,

Nurturing An Ambition
By ambition, we refer to human desire to accomplish a certain goal in life.
Personally, I believe there is no life without an ambition.
These can be true words for each one of us if we think over why we are alive
and what expected of us.
Life is very simple: As long as we find our centre of gravity,
utilize its balance and let our ambition be our driving force. No failure would
rob us success when we know it exist.
![]() |
You and I have read a lot about great leaders and inventors.
Their humble start- up could be unbelievable, but their accomplishment is what
we should be interested in: learning from their struggles, endeavors and risks
in order to maximize on our efforts for success.
Before that, we have a challenge laid out by our dreamy
ambition. This dream is visionary, but for us to reach for our destined a goal,
we have to keep up the fight -defeating all odds that may result from our
struggles- and patient enough to avoid giving in to failure.
Sometimes it may need us to volunteer for experience. This
is the good way of gaining exposure to more skills and knowledge through
sharing of ideas. Being close to people who share alike dreams, practicing and
learning through experience helps one to know all pros and cons of an ambition,
hence forging for a better way to avoid a backlash.
Another thing that can help accomplish our ambitious dreams
is to use the internet. Here, it is good to understand that most of what we
think of have been fulfilled somewhere. By researching, we may find relevant
materials on the internet that can be very helpful in dealing with our indented
project.
Even though some personal ambitions may not be achievable
due to unavoidable circumstances, example: resources to finance the project,
time for working on, etc , having patience, good research, great like-minded
team and a will to succeed could make a difference.
Believe in something even when no one else does. That is the
will, and whenever there is a will… there is a way!

End Of The Animal Kingdom
By then, leadership in animal kingdom was reserved for Lions,
even brought the slogan- King of the Jungle. Other animals in big cats’ family-
Cheetahs, Leopards and Tigers- given ministerial seats as the remaining animals
were civil servants and field workers.
All animals led their lives under rules governing the
Kingdom. Punishment for lawbreakers, lazy workers, corrupt officials and
cunning animals were normal occurrences and most animals agreed to such kind of
treat.
Because of its vast and complicated nature of the Kingdom,
it was difficult for leaders to pass judgement to those who infringe guidelines.
Moreover, judgements were limited to the size of an animal in question because,
a mouse’s punishment was not equal to that of an elephant. In this case, most
small animals went scot-free.
Political
wrangles and rebellion:
In a particular day, King Lion announced new rules in addition;
he demanded every animal species to appoint a spokes leader. These were
measures to keep informed also as a mean of eradicating rebels in the Kingdom.
It happened that, cats avoided King’s call and did not
appear in the meeting. Only the appointed ministers were present, later sacked
from their positions by an angry Lion King.
Rebellious cat’s secret meeting insider revealed the
formation of a coalition government lead by the Tigers. The news spread like
bush fire to all animal communities, Lions too. It was a celebration for some
animals but others proved loyalty to the Lion King.
Tension spread in the Kingdom, no animal had ever seen an
angry Lion King. ‘Grreeeee, Grreeee,’ the King Roared. All animals took caver.
Fear, suspense, hopelessness were only feelings almost all animals experienced.
A messenger went round the Kingdom delivering the King’s
last chance of loyalty, or to face the worst.
As immunity from the King’s wrath, almost all-herbivorous
type went to the Lion King’s side, but the remainder stood on ground with their
rebellion.
Split
of the Animal Kingdom:
Upon this division, war broke out between the King’s loyal
subjects and the rebels. Since, herbivorous animals fear wars; they provided
war supplies and food for the fighters. However, food became so scarce that
they could hardly get any, but the demand for food from both warring sides
intensified.
Having no any other means of getting food, the carnivorous ones
started attacking and killing herbivorous type for food. This infuriated the herbivorous
animals but they had nothing to do. There inferiority made them an easy prey –no power
to defend themselves-, they had only three options- the stronger to
fight, the taller to warn and the weak to run- but their main defense was to
walk in large groups.
This is the reason all big cats family fight among themselves,
the lions roar when angry and hungry and lastly this is why the herbivorous
animals are hunted for food & always mingle amongst themselves in large
groups in Maasai Mara.

Balance Of Nature
The balance of nature brings harmony in all inhabitants on
Earth. There is joy in nature outlook –blooming flowery plants, bright &
happy birds of the air, sweet smelling scents of flowers, cool nice shades for
people and animals- as life grows from boring days to lovely environment that
every living organism enjoys living in.
Changing weather can be equivalent to life we live. Sometimes
weather goes cold, wet or snowy, other time it gets warm and enjoyable, just
like human moods –sad and gloomy to joy and relaxed moments-. This is awesome
for nature lovers! However, we may feel uncomfortable with too much hot or cold
weather.
This comes to my piece of reminder, in a poetic tone:
Hope
At Last, Isn’t It So Lovely? 29th Dec, 2005.
Sitting under the shade,
Sheltering myself from
scotching sun,
Yes! The drought is gonna
end soon,
However, I just wonder when.
Winds blowing across the
field,
Somehow making the day a bid
cool,
Promising the arrival of a
wet season,
However, I just wonder when.
As if the message is being
delivered by wind,
Just like a letter of
orgies,
The message is very vivid,
Somewhat, I’m hinted when.
Dark clouds seems so far,
Scattered like Baobabs in
Sahara,
Wow! That brings hope for
rains,
In a few days, that is when!
***waflay***
In some countries, there are no extremely cold (Snowy)
seasons. Like in Kenya, we only experience cold and wet or hot and dry seasons.
Nevertheless, balance of nature has so much to teach us, and it fun supporting
nature in an attempt to bring back its former glory. BTW, it likes playing
‘Tit-for-tat’ game.

Ways Of Life- Writing Dreams
Growing up, I had this feeling that I have an unusual talent that has never run in my family tree. Maybe it’s because of exposure or chances were limited in those days, but still, there is no one picking up this #God's Gift as a way of life.
Some years back, in 1998, I wrote my first latter to Writers Bureau -by then the Company was appearing on our Daily News Papers very often- asking if they can help develop my writing skills. Months later, I received the reply latter from them, Newsletters: Fees structure and testimonies from members. How cool! That was my starting point, yet there was something else holding me back -tuition fee-.
It was a challenge that I knew I wouldn’t manage to escape. However, something within kept my writing vision in focus with hopes that from a distance lay not a dream but a reality. I remember writing this Poem as a reminder!
The New Day! 22 Nov, 1998.
Every dog has his/her new day!
Okay, I keep waiting,
For that day of prosperity,
The wail of distress will be no more,
Only joy beyond measure shall prevail,
Dancing a jig, Celebrations,
Having the best time in life.
***waflay***
It happens that I wrote this poem on the day I took my first Lungful of oxygen -Birth Day- and as a day I dedicated my mind to pursue my dreams in every means possible. Until now, I do!
Life In Poetry- How To live it.
This can be a starting point or the last kick of a dying
horse! Anyway, it has been time since I started writing poems, to be exact,
from 1998 when I was in primary school. Poems themselves revolve under what I
was going through by then, and in other times were my opinions about life.
I have lots of them
in my note books that I want to share with the world by publishing them online,
though I’m having setbacks and negative mind about the whole issue.
Writing indirect poems was my favorite style –still is- to
hide my feelings and opinions behind the dark-mask from my readers and those
who thought they are smart –the snoops- ,going around my back reading what does
not concern them. It was fun asking my readers to explain what I meant only to
realize they have picked a literal meaning of the whole thing.
Being secretive sometimes pay! However, there were days when
I needed help (council) from my brother, but I did not want to talk about it
verbally. In such a day, only my diary came in to speak on my behalf. Bad idea!
My brother could not divulge an alluded message, so I forced to elaborate on my
writings.
Here is one of them, a 'heartbreak' Poem that I
wrote before going in silent-mode for a full week.
Never
Again. 6th March 2006.
Swimming in a river,
Largely
dominated by crocodiles & sharks,
Of
course, I know the consequences,
Now
I’m wounded.., a call for sharks
Any
minute, any time they will be here.
I have
nowhere to run.., barred destiny!
The
only option is to turn back,
Even
though it is gonna be a war,
It
won’t last for long, Just a few minutes,
Then
peace shall prevail.
Mistakes!
Mistakes! No more,
These
are my words,
For
real, forever I promise.
**By waflay **
It was nice that after a simple clue, he was able to tell my
hurting –though I doubt if he guessed right all encrypted words-, but it was
worthy a trial and it did its purpose.
I wish to keep them coming in this style. However, I need
your opinion how to publish these stories and Poems. You got any Idea that
you wish to share with me; I would love to hear from you!

Our Love- Dreams Come True.
Sing me a song, that would make my heart joyful,
Invite me to dance, a love song that unites our hearts,
Give me your hand; hold me tight and let love take control,
No turning back dear, we are lovers forever,
Save your pace, for we have a long way to go.
Take me in your arms darl., and embrace me tight,
Hug me like never before, and let your mind drift away,
All these is love, plus signs of together-forever,
That only us, can
feel and appreciate!
It was an illusion of our minds, now it is the reality,
Like a tiny organism it was, but now our love is mighty,
Over and over again, people admire what we share,
Very sad! They will not feel what we experience,
Extraordinary affection, that goes beyond measure.
On a day like this, I saw you and felt it,
Nothing gave me a hint, that you and I are destiny,
Little I did, to pursue your love,
You are now here, dancing with me.., our love song.
You are my true love, the one I dreamt of,
Official key, that can access my love madness,
Unlock my true feelings, and enjoy our love life.

He Lies to Live
He was tall handsome and smart,
A smile could distinguish him from many,
But his ways of life was questionable.
He came to me,
Soft spoken clear voice,
As usual, greetings opened his needs.
A good listener, I pretended to be,
Nodding in confirmation and short answers,
He thought of scores,.. very wrong guess!
None could tell the guy was a conman,
Nothing could hint the motive of the guy,
He was just perfect, but I was much better.
His lies went in circles,
Confusion marked most parts in his story,
These made me realize who I was dealing with.
At the end he blessed me,
Walked away to another victim,
The same story..., he scored.

Love: Something Worth to Know
By then, love was not an issue, it was considered as something
special for uniting hearts and people lived in happiness for the rest of their
lives. However, in our current generation, love is like a spark in people's
hearts -it comes in flash like thing, and so does it end-. Where did it go
wrong? Be my guest!
Well, we have to
understand the meaning of love and the effects it comes with in our lives. This
is only a starting point to understand why it is worth living in love life, how
to keep it going, and what keeps it strong in a relationship.
Meaning of
Love:
According to
Wikipedia, love is described as 'an emotion of a strong affection and personal
attachment'. However, an explanation that supports the first meaning of love is
what we find to be more interesting, here it goes! ' Love is also a virtue representing all
of human kindness, compassion, and affection; and "the unselfish loyal and
benevolent concern for the good of another" Love may also be described as
actions towards others or oneself based on compassion, or as actions towards
others based on affection' . Do these give us a hint? In summery, love is an
endless strong affection, unconditional compassion and unselfish concern for
other.
Living a love
life:
Since we live in a
world dominated or guided by laws and rights of humanity, love seems to come in
second place in a relationship; this is the first wrong turn! Love is what brings
people together, and no one is forced to stay with someone if there is no
mutual connection. We are humans, we have feeling, we can adopt change -either
negatively or positively-, we have rights to make a choice etc, but all these
when placed in the right position at the right time would bring so much joy in
a relationship and dissolve minor pains -a must- in any relationship.
It really depends
on us to make a decision in our lives, either to adhere to love we have or go
looking for a better greener love-life -which is actually more of an illusion
than a reality-. Nevertheless, we are to rethink of the impact of our actions
to our love partners, better to remember, ' Our neighbour's garden is always
beautiful, but we never know how beautiful our garden is in neighbour's eyes'.
Things to
consider in a love relationship:
(a) Trust- a very important
factor in love relationship, for it helps one eradicate doubts.
(B) Caring- this comes as a
supporting factor for continuity of love and brings a sense of belonging in a
relationship.
(C) Understanding- this is
the factor, which unites all other positive measures in a healthy relationship.
